Hey guys weird question here but any ideas on where I can find Sourdough starter? I can make my own but I'd rather get some that's been around for longer and has more of a flavour. i know often people will share theirs or that some bakeries will sell them any idea of one in the area?
x-posted to other local comms sorry if you see it more than once. Current Mood: baker-y

Buslington sailing club
So my family owns a smallish sailboat and I want to actually get off my ass and get proper lessons to prove to my dad I can sail it by myself. I've been checking out the burlington sailing club website and their shark program. (We own an alberg 22 if anyone's wondering) Any opinions?
Any good or bad? It seems kinda pricey so I want to get some opinions before I decide.

Donating Stuffed Animals
So I've decided that my "project" so-to-speak when I visit home for Easter in April (I haven't lived in Burlington for years - current location is Ottawa, so I don't get home too much...) is going to be to try to go through my *massive* stuffed animals collection and only keep the ones that are realllly important to me (like say, a doll my mom made me - even though she hates sewing, or the teddy bear my dad gave me as an infant!). With that in mind, does anyone know anywhere good that would take donations of stuffed animals? I'd love to see them go to children who would really be made happy by them :)
If nothing else, they'll end up on Freecycle :)

The city's website is useless for this; can anyone direct me to a list of places to take used batteries, light bulbs, etc. around here?

I'm going to be moving to Burlington sometime soon. I know it's Burlington so things are more pricey but are there any decent yet affordable apartments near guelph line towards the lake? I know it's a long shot but I'll try anyways!
Thanks in advance!

computer for sale
Greetings fellow Burlingtonians ^^!
Just wondering if there's anyone out there who is interested in buying a used computer. Right now I'm commuting to university in Guelph and I'd like to buy a laptop, meaning that I'd have no need for my full sized computer. It's a Dell Dimension 2400 [with a Pentium 4 processor [2.2 GHz],2.19 GHz, 256 MB of RAM] which includes the tower, monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and all the backup software [essentially, everything that came with it when I purchased it which was in September 2003]. It also has Windows XP Home and a CD burner. I'd like to get $450 for it but I'm always willing to negotiate. This is a great little computer, it's just that it doesn't do much for me in terms of getting back and forth from school :P.

Buckwheat Hull Pillows
Does anybody know where someone can find these 'odd' pillows? I've been to several places and half the staff think I'm crazy or they think someone else has it.
Bay/Sears/Linen & Things/JYSK - Nothing.
Even went to a few small places.. NOTHING.
Or do you know of any neat little places to go for interesting gifts for Christmas (I have most of my shopping done, just looking for that extra something something)

Hoping that this community isn't COMPLETELY dead and someone can give me an opinion...does anybody have Cogeco Digital Phone service, and if so, what do you think of it? I'm considering switching but I'd like to get a review first.

I've been craving an iPod for a while. I always thought it would be a nice companion...
I've come across a website offering free iPods, be they 30GB, mini or even nano. It's not a scam, they're just affiliated with a few companies such as Columbia House. If you sign on with one of these affiliates (i.e. Columbia House) and then refer 5 friends to this website who then also sign on with one of their affiliates then presto, you've got an iPod to call your own.
I signed on with Columbia House and bought 7 DVDs for a grand total of $44, including shipping and handling. it's a sweet deal...
So if you guys are interested click here
and sign up.
